The EISIC practitioners’ day is an event with the aim to gather working law enforcement officers, analysts and researcher. We have invited a number of excellent keynote speakers both practitioners that will share their experience and knowledge and researchers that will present new relevant research. The day will cover a number of relevant topics related to societal security and violent extremism.

Program

  • Finding Sunni Extremist Needles in the Big Data haystack or: Why Extremist Content Matters - Nico Prucha, International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation
  • The spread of terrorist/ violent extremist propaganda online and Europol’s EU Internet Referral Unit (EU IRU) as a response to this threat - Stephane Duguin, Internet Referral Unit, Europol
  • Behavioral Analysis Techniques for Investigating Cases of Anonymous Threatening Communications - Ronald F Tunkel, United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
  • Real time intelligence: the power of social media in emergency response and crime fighting - Sylvia Spinnewijn, Netherlands Police department
  • The Dark Web Evolution - On the origin of the criminal business model - Rolf van Wegberg, TNO, The Netherlands

Practitioners' day will start at 9.00, coffee will be served from 8.00. Lunch and coffee is included. The program finish at 17.00.

Information för svenska deltagare

FOI och Uppsala Universitet bjuder in till Practitioners' day, som arrangeras i anslutning till 2016 European Intelligence and Security Informatics Conference (EISIC 2016). Practitioners' day riktar sig till analytiker, forskare och andra yrkesutövare som vill få en inblick i pågående forskning inom våldsbejakande extremism och andra former hot mot samhället säkerhet. Under dagen kommer inbjudna talare att presentera ny forskning varvat med erfarenheter och fallstudier. Alla föreläsningar sker på engelska, lunch och fika ingår.

Tid: 17 augusti 2016, kl. 9.00 - 17.00. Kaffe finns från kl 8.00.
Plats: Informationsteknologiskt centrum (ITC), Uppsala. Aulan i hus 6.
